An approved application for an EU grant does not yet mean money in the bank. Under Slovak law, if support exceeds €100,000 the recipient must be entered in the Register of Public Sector Partners before receiving the first payment. With EU funds that usually means before the grant agreement (zmluva o NFP) is signed. The same rule covers grants from Slovak ministries, the Agricultural Paying Agency, the Slovak Business Agency, regions and towns.
Projects often bring several parties under the duty at once: consortium partners, subcontractors with a share above 30% and foreign partners. We therefore prepare the registration alongside the application, so that approval is not followed by a delay at signing. We identify the beneficial owners, draw up the verification document and make sure the entry stays valid through the project's sustainability period.
The duty arises before the first payment above €100,000 is received. For EU funds this in practice means before the grant agreement is signed.
Each consortium partner receiving more than the threshold registers separately. A subcontractor must be registered if its share of the work exceeds 30%.
In programmes such as Interreg, the Slovak partner registers in the Slovak RPVS. Partners from other countries follow the rules of their own state.
EU projects often carry a five-year sustainability period after completion. The recipient must keep meeting the project conditions throughout, including a valid registration.
