Legal retainer for businesses

Legal retainer for businesses in practice

Contracts every month, staff, unpaid invoices, Commercial Register filings: a business with this kind of workload needs a lawyer on an ongoing basis, not once a year. A legal retainer is a monthly subscription. For a fixed fee you get an agreed number of lawyer hours and a response time set out in the contract. Retainers start from €500 a month excluding VAT, with no minimum term.

We begin with an initial legal audit, reviewing your corporate documents, contracts, employment paperwork and terms of business, and set priorities. Unused hours roll over to the next month. If the work exceeds the prepaid hours, we tell you in advance and charge the extra at a reduced hourly rate. The retainer can be terminated at the end of any calendar month.

  • Advice by email, phone or video call.

Not the lawyer's flat expense fee

In Slovakia the term paušál also means a lawyer's flat expense allowance per act under Decree No. 655/2004. A legal retainer is a monthly subscription to legal services for businesses.

  • There is no minimum term. You can terminate at the end of any calendar month.
  • If legal questions come up only occasionally, a one-off consultation or a specific service is a better fit.
